Good luck getting a table I've been here for 20 minutes and got nothing but bad service

Consistent quality food, reasonable prices, and friendly staff make this spot for me. Daily food specials ranging from grilled wings to home made chicken salad. Casual, easy going atmosphere while clean and comfortable. A+

Very casual. Typical sports bar/diner. Got a burger & fries. Burger was ok, fries were fresh and good. Onion straws ehh.. Just ok. Located over looking a parking lot. The staff was attentive and pleasant. I might come back & try something else.

Had some of the buffalo chicken dip and it was absolutely disgusting. Tasted sour and had an obscene amount of grease like it was sitting for weeks. Manager claimed it was made that afternoon and it clearly was not. However, had no problems with the service which is why there is two stars and not one.

Food was mediocre. My was never made aware that good service included dropping off the food and never returning except with a check. Terrible service!!! If you like self service and mediocre food (it was served quickly giving them one star), than this is the place for you!

Dry chicken wings and overall disappointed in everything they brought out. You can tell it's frozen food. Wish I didn't spend the 50 bucks.

We have been coming here for over 5 years and probably the best sports bar around! The food is awesome and reasonably priced. The staff is awesome and place is very kid friendly! We love it here, thanks Varsity Club, you guys do a great job!

Great Sports Bar, terrible food. I have gone here at least 4 times hoping for improvement. Never happened!! How can u screw up bar food? Great drink specials & game nights though.

Large portions of better than basic family sports bar food at reasonable prices. Large outdoor, dog friendly seating area.

This was a horrible experience. I was there with family on a Friday night. The hostess told us half hour till we were seated. She was very unpleasant. We waited over and hour and were starving so we stayed. The food came out cold, greasy and just plain disgusting. One and done, never again.

We once loved varsity club, going there all the time when we can until April 19,2015. We usually expect a good 20 minutes for food to come. Today we had a good friend come and town in picked varsity club saying how good the food was. But then the wait, we waited a good 40 minutes for our food to come, My mother is deaf and requested the manager because the wait took longer than normal. So she requested the manager (Sunday Evening shift), and we told him that we feel like the food has been taken a while. He goes and checks the computer and tells it has not been that long. We said we FEEL like it has been and threatens to take the food away because we are being a little rude and he kicks out of the restaurant and tells us never to come back. the Worst part is the food ended up coming out cold from the get go. She also asked the next table and she got her food in 25 minutes for a SALAD. THIS RESTAURANT IS VERY RUDE WHEN YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE FOOD AND THIS MANAGER WILL NOT BE AFRAID TO KICK YOU OUT OF THE RESTAURANT.

I like the Varsity Club in East Lake for a Saturday afternoon lunch spot .The environment inside is a nice, casual sports restaurant, but it's nice since no smoking is allowed inside and there's plenty of TVs all around . There is also a spacious patio out front with tables and umbrellas for those who prefer outside seating. When I go, I usually sit up at the bar, where they have a wide selection of liquor and beer along with daily specials. The bartender Brad, who is always there when I come in on the weekend, is awesome and gives great service! As far as the food goes, I've never had something here that I didn't like. One of the things that is unique about VC is the fresh veggie platter (including carrots, tomatoes, green peppers and ranch) on the appetizer menu. It's rare to find such a healthy option at a sports bar like this, so I was definitely impressed. Anything with the boom boom spicy sauce, especially the shrimp wrap, is excellent! They also serve up tasty burgers and have alot of choices for sandwiches and wraps. My only complaint is there are too many delicious items on the menu to choose from :)The pricing is about average for similar restaurants of it's kind. I give it 3 stars overall.

Mad at myself for not trying this place sooner...especially that I'm moving out of the area in a few weeks. This was definitely my kind of Sports Bar. Had no problem getting a table around 6:30 on a Tuesday and service was great. I had the Steak Wrap which was delicious . Reading other yelp reviews I had heard the Nachos were out of this world good. A couple a table next to me ordered them and I found myself craving them immediately. Will definitely try them on my next visit.

Gross bar food that nearly anyone could make better at home. This place smells bad and is packed during NFL Sundays, which is why I was there to begin with. Only nice thing I can say is they've got all the games on but most sports bars have "the ticket" so why?!...

  • Curt C.

Not bad. Food and atmosphere is good. I would not recommend going there to watch a sporting event.... Too much going on there for that. They do have a lot of tvs but just not what you expect for a sports bar... More of a family place.

  • J. P.

The food is good. They've got a full bar. There's always something going on, and it's probably the best sports bar in the area. That being said, one of the drunk Gator fans hit my car and took off the last time I went, so I probably won't go back. If I do, I'll park over by the Publix and walk over to be safe.

Great food and very efficient service. Enjoyed the atmosphere too.

Though I've yet to have a GREAT server at this place the food is good, the menu is huge and my kids love the games. I'm sure it's good for sports fans too, as there are a lot of t.v.s

IF I could give this place no stars then I would. I normally never write reviews on places and I hate to give a business negative feedback but my friend was treated so poorly by the staff at this restaurant that I had to get on and spread the word. On 1/19/13 I placed a takeout order and my friend went to go pick it up for me as I wasnt feeling well at the time. I ordered a salad and it came to $11.75. All I had on me was $12.00 - which I thought would be fine as my friend was just going to run in and pick it up for me. However, apparently the staff at this restaurant believe that if your ordering takeout then you must leave a tip as well - and they made it VERY awkward. As my friend handed over the $12-00 to pay for my meal the girl behind the counter goes, " and here is your 25 cent change - you clearly need this more than I do." Aghast by the remark my friend asked her to please repeat what she just said (as she couldnt believe what she was hearing). The girl hands my friend the quarter change and says, " Normally it is customary to tip your server - thats how things are done here." I'm not sure how she thinks she is a "server" when my friend literally walked into the building to pick up the food. But I do think perhaps she could kindly take her head out of her behind and learn some manners. NEVER GOING BACK. And I will be sure to tell all of my friends.

KAYSEA was our waitress last night. We had a wonderful meal and fantastic service. We will definitely be back.

Erin is the best! She is very attentive to her customers needs and genuinely wants you to be happy with your food and service. No attitude like some servers.....

The bartender, Ashley, who did not offer her name but gladly gave it, was pretty attentive and helpful in suggesting things from the menu. She failed to mention the size as the ring of fire( fried jalapeño rings)which is a serving that no human being should attempt to eat. The cajun fries and chipotle bbq boneless wings were a great choice. 1.99$ drafts on mondays.

I'd be really surprised to see them in business for much longer. The patio is not bad for watching games and having drinks but the food is just average at best. I bet they have huge freezers and a ton of microwaves in the kitchen.

I'm at the Varsity at least every other week very convenient and close when a patio is what I seek It's a family friendly sports bar with quite a menu so in this neck of the woods its a popular venue Their Boneless Wings are the best around here Order them nuclear and your taste buds will cheer Pair that with their $1.99 domestic pints of beer and I say you've got the perfect combo my dear My kids also love the kids meals because of the big size and the rice krispy treat or cookie as their sweet surprise If you are not in a chicken wing kind of mood Then the Margherita Chicken Salad is the next best food One quick tip before I'm off the grid Avoid Thursday Karaoke unless you're a kid

Last night was the first time we've been to VC and it was a pleasant surprise. The parking lot was full, as was the restaurant, but we were seated right away. The server was efficient, but not especially friendly, but I'd rather that then the other way around. (he wasn't unfriendly, just not over the top personality wise.) we ordered the wings with sweet chili sauce and the were so good we were using the celery to scoop up the very last bits of sauce from the plate. For entrees, I ordered the nachos with blackened chicken and my husband and mother in law split a steak wrap with fries. Thank goodness they split an entree because I definitely needed help with the nachos! The platter of nachos was gigantic. Even with their help, we barely made a dent in it! Still, I would say they are the best nachos I've had in Florida (lived here about 1.5 years). The veggies were fresh, the guacamole was delicious and the chips held up the whole time. Often, by the time you get to the middle or bottom layers the chips are unpleasantly soggy, but not here! My husband and mother-in-law enjoyed their wrap and the fries. The adult beverages we had were ice cold and reasonably priced. We will definitely be back!

My wife and I used to live in the apartments behind the Publix in this shopping plaza, and we would make our weekly Sunday pilgrimage to watch the Chicago Bears on one of their many televisions. Good boneless wings, TONS of chicken sandwich variations to choose from, and very kid friendly at night. Always good drink specials too. Definitely not a good place to go if you're looking for that crowded bar atmosphere, but good for a few drinks or to watch sports. Nice people.

Have been going here since it opened. Wife and I go once a week. Staff is very friendly and attentive and great for watching sports or to bring the kids. Many selections for Sports Bar & Grill food and reasonable. No happy hour drink specials but they have daily drink specials. Burgers and sandwiches are large and well priced along with their dinners.

This is a family sports bar and restaurant. Their menu is second to none as far as the choices they provide.

Decent food for great price! Great place to come with kids! They can play while I'm having couple of drinks! Kids always eat their meals here!

Food was great! I highly recommend the BLT sandwich. Service is excellent especially during the week. They have a wide variety of burgers and chicken sandwiches. Pizza is very good.

Horrible service. Waitress would rather sit and bs with her friends while we're waiting to be helped. Absolutely terrible experience. This is a loosely-run ship that desperately needs some type of leader within the restaurant. Will not be back ever.

When my husband suggested this place, I was excited to try it out. I don't like sports but sports bars have some of the best food. But there's something missing with the food here. The service here was very good and attentive. We ordered the nachos with blackened chicken. The chicken didn't taste right. You know the taste of reheated chicken in the microwave? It tasted like that plus covered in blackened seasoning. I couldn't eat the chicken. To their credit, the nachos are huge. You won't go hungry. I had the bang bang shrimp wrap and my husband had the blackened prime rib sandwich. He enjoyed the sandwich which came with a huge singular slab of meat. When I think of prime rib, I think it would be sliced real thin on a bun. Not the case. The wrap was mostly lettuce and cheese with a few bits of shrimp. I wasn't that impressed with it. I had high hopes for this place. The prices are competitive with other sports bars. But the food just isn't hitting the mark. When I go back, I will order something different.

Slow service, bad food, horrible ticket times - no longer our wing place or anything else place - SO DISAPPOINTING! First time I've left a restaurant still starving! New management????? Don't waste your time or money!

My first time here and I was very impressed with the place. After reading some of the reviews I became a little nervous but I must say my experience here was fabulous. The food came in a timely manner and our waitress was very sweet and attentive. The food was some of the best of it's kind that I have experienced in awhile. The adult beverages where made to perfection. I will be returning to this establishment again.

We have been here a few times and the services has always been good. We haven't been when a game is on, but have been there on a kids night that was pretty crowded and still had good service. The food is good. It is basically what you would expect at a sports bar. We have had wings, burgers, buffalo chicken sandwiches, steak wraps, etc and everything has been good.

Gianna, my 8 year old Granddaughter, wanted to go here. Atmosphere was typical sports bar...and so was the food! But, she was happy, and that's what mattered. We started with the Buffalo Chicken Dip and the Boom Boom Shrimpl Obviously we went spicy and all of us enjoyed it. I asked for an Indian Burger NOT Blackened, as I was Jonesin' for a bleu cheese burger. It was done right for me! The table also ordered the Chicken Quesadilla and a French Dip which were really very good. (Yeah, I had to taste everything!) All in all, it was just fine. The Baby Girl scored her Chicken Fingers and Tator Tots and was happy with her go-to meal.
